BlackMarketAntiques.com has just uncovered a large collection of antique glass bottles. The collection was found in an old local barn. There are dozens of potato crates full of bottles and hundreds, if not thousands, of old bottles. So far none of the bottles look to have been dug.
Most of the bottles that we’ve unwrapped (most are wrapped in old newspaper) are in very nice condition. The collection looks to be made up of a lot of old medicine / remedy bottles, jars, and household jars. We haven’t found anything with exceptional value yet, and aren’t getting our retirement hopes up over this collection, but there are a lot of collectible old bottles that all need good homes.

We just got in a collection of hundreds of old photographs, including several dozen tintypes. Tintypes were the first photographs that employed the use of props and backgrounds or backdrops on a consistent basis. The photo at the left shows that photographers in the 1870′s, might not have been considered artists as they are today, or at least artists with spacial perception issues. The kids in the photo all have looks of shock on their faces, perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the sky is also filled with a river and hills.

Just a heads up to all the photography enthusiasts and camera collectors, we’ve just gotten in a decent sized collection of more than 100 vintage and antique cameras. Haven’t gotten through all of them yet, but thus far most are mediocre, as expected. But there are sure to be some nice ones and hopefully some great old collectibles in there somewhere.
We’ll be adding the cameras to our inventory gradually over the next week or so. The best way to see the new stuff is to visit our Newly Listed Products page. We get a lot of shoppers looking for cameras and accessories (there’s a pile of accessories too, and some film and flashbulbs, etc.), so be sure to check back daily for the next week. Lots of camera stuff goes quick!
I love old photos, so when I was given several World War II albums of photos to scan to put into Black Market Antique’s online inventory I rather enjoyed the task. I’ve scanned scores of photos, mostly snapshots from circa 1942-43, and have even added a few of them to the online catalog. I will be adding new photos as time permits over the next few weeks (I’m sure I’ll be given a whole different type of item to deal with before I get all of the photos uploaded).
The first group of photos that I have added includes some great photos of soldiers in swim trunks in beach scenes, including several of a pretty buff man named Chester. Although Chester doesn’t have the ideal body of today, he was refreshingly buff compared to the other relatively scrawny soldiers in the photos. These photos have been added the the Snapshots>Men>Gay Interest category under snapshots.
