An exquisite antique Victorian gold-filled telescoping mechanical pencil, crafted in the distinctive style and pattern of William S. Hicks (W.S. Hicks, New York). Features a tri-draw extendable barrel designed for pocket, chatelaine, or dance card use, highlighted by an intricately engraved chevron-and-herringbone engine-turned outer casing, a finely reeded inner extension, a fluted nozzle, and a deeply chased foliate floral finial cap. Telescopes smoothly, retracts compactly, and retains its original mechanical lead-advance mechanism.
