A rare and finely crafted limited-edition miniature book titled Murder on Beaver Island, written, handset, and hand-printed by Michigan private press printer James Lamar Weygand (imprint of Phil W. Weygand / The Press of the Indiana Kid) in Dundee, Michigan, 1964. Colophon states a strictly limited edition of only 100 copies hand-pulled on a 7x11 Pearl letterpress, finished November 29, 1964. The work recounts the dramatic historical 1856 assassination of Mormon monarch James Jesse Strang ("King Strang") on Lake Michigan's Beaver Island. Bound in original patterned wheat paper-covered boards with a green textured bookcloth spine and a cover beehive woodcut illustration. Retains the original separate folding paper map of the Beaver Islands laid in. In excellent, near-fine condition with crisp letterpress typography, tight binding, and clean pages.
