This is a scarce vintage Mid-Century Modern 1950s–1960s Lefton Exclusives Iridescent Lusterware Cat Vase / Planter (Model #318).
Made in Japan, this stylized mid-century cat features an iridescent mother-of-pearl (carnival/lusterware) finish with long painted eyelashes, black body accent lines, and a applied dimensional collar of pastel pink and blue ceramic flowers with gold accents. The open top formed by the cat's ears functions as a bud vase or small planter, with a curled tail forming a side handle. The underside retains the original red and gold foil "Lefton's Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. Exclusives JAPAN" label along with the stamped model number 318. It is in clean vintage condition with glossy glaze and crisp facial details.
Very good condition with some crazing to the glaze and some chipping to the flower petals on the back as pictured. Measures 6 1/2 inches tall. Refer to the photos for a better idea of the style and condition, you will receive the exact kitty cat vase that is pictured.
