This is a vintage Stewart-Warner portable hand tachometer, Model 757-W, complete with its original protective metal storage tin. The mechanical diagnostic tool features a high-polished chrome bezel surrounding a high-contrast black and white dial face. The gauge reads "R.P.M. IN HUNDREDS" and is styled with the iconic "SW" logo at the center.
The accompanying cylindrical lithograph tin features a bright yellow, red, and white color scheme, boldly labeled "STEWART-WARNER PORTABLE HAND TACHOMETER" and marked "Measures Rotary Speeds." The interior of the tin retains its original corrugated cardboard liner designed to protect the gauge during transit. The mechanical unit features a textured black body and a steel drive spindle tipped with a removable rubber contact tip. Both the tool and the storage tin are in excellent vintage condition, showing only light cosmetic surface wear from age, making this a highly collectible piece of mid-century automotive or industrial testing equipment.
