Antique Mexican Retablo Ex Voto Oil on Tin Our Lady of Health Patzcuaro Miracle

An authentic antique Mexican devotional retablo / ex-voto oil painting on heavy tin sheet, dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Salud (Our Lady of Health) of Pátzcuaro, Michoacán. The folk art composition depicts a grave illness miracle scene: Sra. Carmen Castro lying ill in a wooden bed offering her final blessing to her family, while kneeling children and relatives pray fervently as the crowned Virgin appears upon a crescent moon altar. Below the scene is an original handwritten Spanish narrative inscription recounting her recovery from dangerous sickness following vows made to the Virgin. Complete with its original suspension wire hole at the top edge. Displays honest aged patina with authentic surface oxidations, paint craquelure, rust spotting, and historic text wear consistent with late 19th to early 20th century Mexican devotional folk art.

Measures just over 9 inches tall.
