Antique Whiting Davis Mesh Purse 1920s Art Deco Painted Flapper Evening Bag

This antique signed Whiting & Davis flapper-style evening bag from the 1920s features a fine, flexible chainmail mesh body with a colorful, pastel geometric Art Deco pattern of mint green, cream, orange, and blue. The bag is suspended from an ornate, silver-tone repoussé metal frame intricately detailed with engraved floral filigree and finished with a classic dual-ball kiss clasp closure and a matching chain link handle. The bottom edge is cleanly tailored with a series of stepped, scalloped points typical of the era. The purse retains its original Whiting & Davis metal tag inside.

Purse is in very good condition with no breaks or major damage. There are a few of the links in the chainmail that have some enamel loss and the silver plated frame is unpolished as pictured. Measures 5 1/4 inches tall.
