This rare antique WWI celluloid memorial photo plaque displays a sobering, sepia-toned field photograph of a temporary wooden cross marking a military gravesite in France. Stamped clearly onto the cross are the details of the fallen soldier: "HARRY LANE, U.S.A., K.I.A." (Killed in Action). The photograph is framed by an elegant, lithographed border featuring a black and cream checkerboard motif interlaced with pink roses and green vines. The convex metal backing plate is complete with its original integrated wire easel stand, remaining in excellent structural condition.
